Thomas Harold Wilson (1993 – 1017)

Thomas Wilson was born in Adelaide, South Australia. He was in the 8th Australian Mounted Rifles before he immigrated to Canada. He was a machinist helper in the Yukon before the First World War. Wilson joined the 7th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force in Valcartier, Quebec in 1914. He fought in France and Belgium and rose to Lance Corporal before he was killed during the assault on Hill 70. His wife, Lily Gengell Wilson lived in Whitehorse.1)

Wilson’s name is engraved into the stone base of the Canadian National Vimy Memorial in France. The memorial honours those Canadian soldiers who have no known grave.2)
