Alexander Arthur (1916 – 1961)

Alex Arthur came north to Mayo in 1945 and managed the Silver Inn.1) Milo Jurovich and partner Mike Franich bought the Silver Inn Hotel from Arthur in June 1951.2) Arthur also owned the Mayo and Keno Menswear before he moved to Whitehorse where he owned Porky’s Menswear. He sold this business to Hougen’s in February 1957. He then took over the Hillcrest Supermarket (the airbase grocery store) and operated it until 1961. Alex Arthur was a long-standing member of the Whitehorse Kiwanis Club.3)
