Arthur James Allen (1872 – 1917)
Arthur Allen was born in London, England to parents John and May Allen. He immigrated to Canada and took up farming in Alberta. He was a miner in Dawson when he joined the Yukon Infantry in 1916.1) He owned claims No. 29 Above Discovery on Rude Creek, and No. 37 Above Discovery on Dip Creek. His claims were declared free from cancellation while he was serving during the war.2) Private Allen was a rifleman in D Company of the 231st Battalion. He was admitted to the Regimental Hospital in February 1917 and was quickly transferred to the Vancouver General Hospital where he died.3)
