[Richard Frederick] Appleyard

The first building at the junction of the Road to the Watson Lake Airport and the Alaska Highway was built by a man named Appleyard. This location was called The Wye because of the shape of the roads. The building was a trading post with room upstairs.¹⁾ It was the only building at The Wye for four or five years, until the Watson Lake Motors was built across the road about 1948.²⁾ Appleyard might be Richard Frederick Appleyard who died in Whitehorse in August 1949.
