George Andison and his wife [Phyllis] arrived in the Yukon in March 1929. Mr. Andison succeeded G.N. Shaw as the manager of the Mayo branch of Burns and Co.1) It was the beginning of the depression, and George urged his son Jack Andison to move to Mayo. The Andisons became long-time residents of the community.2) Phyllis Andison died in 1920. Treadwell Yukon closed down their mine in 1942 and men moved south to work on the Alaska Highway construction.
