J. Pete Anderson (d. 1918)

Pete Anderson was a dredge miner who lived in Circle, Alaska.(S.S. Princess Sophia: Those Who Perished. The Maritime Museum of British Columbia, 2018: 37.) In 1910, he owned placer ground on Mastadon Creek in Alaska. There was a pack horse trail from Circle City to Miller House, and Pete’s claims were about five miles from Miller House and about seventy miles from Circle. Anderson and his wife wintered in Seattle. They were drowned when the ship Princess Sophia sank in the Lynn Canal in 1918.1)
