Joyce Armstrong (1927 - 2017)

Joyce Armstrong was born in Yorkshire, England. She came to Canada after meeting her first husband during the Second World War and never lost her British accent. Armstrong was married three times and widowed twice. She helped to run the Sportsman Motel and Murdoch’s gift shore in Watson Lake. She worked with her second husband in an expediting company that supplied mining operations around the town. She served on the Yukon Housing Board and the Yukon Heritage Resources Board. She was involved with the Signpost Seniors community club and helped to run equestrian events in Watson Lake. She was gold-medal winner at the Yukon Senior Games. She was a very classy lady with a great sense of humour and was well-loved in the community. She is survived by husband Lorne Armstrong, three children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.1)
