Billy Gai Blair Jr.

Billy Gai was born in Snag to Tilly Enoch and trader Jack Dolan. Billy's mother died when he was young and he was raised by his grandmother, Annie Enoch, until he was adopted by William Blair and his wife. Blair and his partner purchased Dolan's trading post at Snag. Billy Gai took the name Billy Blair Jr. The family lived off the land and ran the trading post until the airstrip closed in 1962. They moved to Beaver Creek and Billy Jr. attended school in Dawson and lived at St. Paul's Anglican Hostel. He became ill with polio there and, after treatment, attended school in Skagway, Alaska. In the 1970s, he worked as an environmental assistant for the Foothills Pipeline assessment.1)
