Charles Burns (b. 1876)

Charles Burns was born in Ireland. He was a Dawson cattleman in September 1916 when he enlisted to serve in the First World War.1) He was recruited by Captain George Black and was in England by August 1917.2) He returned to the Yukon after the war. Six men received vocational training from the Department of Soldiers’ Civil Re-Enlistment but C. Burn was rejected as not eligible under the department regulations.3) A reduced rate of transportation from Yukon to British Columbia was arranged in the autumn of 1919 for C. Burns and seven other men.4)
