Charles Burns (b. 1876)

Charles Burns was born in Ireland. He was a Dawson cattleman in September 1916 when he enlisted to serve in the First World War.¹⁾ He was recruited by Captain George Black and was in England by August 1917.²⁾ He returned to the Yukon after the war. Six men received vocational training from the Department of Soldiers’ Civil Re-Enlistment but C. Burn was rejected as not eligible under the department regulations.³⁾ A reduced rate of transportation from Yukon to British Columbia was arranged in the autumn of 1919 for C. Burns and seven other men.⁴⁾
