David Beckman
David Beckman was born on a mixed farm in central Alberta. He graduated from the University in 1970 with a degree in agriculture. He worked for eight years with the government of Alberta as a district agriculturalist at St. Paul, Wetaskiwin, and Fairview. He did extension work in an agricultural development project for the Canadian International Development Agency in Lesotho, Africa and then spent a year with the United Nations working in Mozambique as a livestock and range management consultant. He then took a post back home with the Alberta Agricultural Development Corporation dealing with financial management for farmers. David and his family moved to Whitehorse in 1987 and was employed as the Director of the Agriculture Branch in the Yukon Department of Renewable Resources.1)
