Isadore McWilliam Bourke was born at Curraleegh, County Mayo, Ireland. He was a doctor and served as Surgeon Major of the 72nd (Seaforth) Highlanders in India and the East Indies. Bourke and his first wife had three sons, and she died of cholera during his service in India. Isadore and Marianna Carozzi were married in 1881 in London, England. Bourke, Marianna, their three daughters, and adopted nephews, joined the stampede to the Klondike in 1898. He established Dawson’s first hospital.
