John S. Brock

John Brock started coming to the Yukon in the early 1960s as a young graduate student from the University of British Columbia. He worked with prospector Al Kulan and geologist Aaro Aho. He was part of the Casino copper deposit rush, staking nearby claims for Atlas Explorations. In the late 1970s, he explored the Tintina Trench with Welcome Gold, and the Rau lead zinc property near Keno. He also looked around the White Gold area but without finding the gold that later excited the mining world. Brock has seen many exploration practices over the last fifty years. His outfit hired prospectors while many companies do not.1)

Brock was the president and CEO of Pacific Ridge Exploration Ltd. in 2010. The company held four properties in the White Gold District. Mariposa was the most developed. They were staked by geologist Gordon Richards. He was placer mining on Scroggie Creek and exploring the surrounding area when he discovered its hard rock potential. Pacific Ridge optioned the property when the White Gold area’s potential was recognized.2)
