Suzanne Bertrand (1947 - 2010)
Suzanne Bertrand was born in Winnipeg and moved to the Yukon in 1967 to begin her teaching career. She taught in several Yukon elementary schools for over 35 years. She volunteered with the Whitehorse Curling Club and became a coach in 1987. She won the Sport Yukon's Coach of the Year award in 1988 and the Excellence in Education Award in 1990. She was recognized nationally with the 1999 3M Coach of the Year Award and the 2005 Volunteer of the Year Award from the Canadian Curling Association. The Whitehorse Curling Club awards the Suzanne Bertrand Volunteer of the Year Award and she was posthumously inducted into the Yukon Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.
