Cesare “Cece” Carlucci (1917 – 2008)

Cece Carlucci was one of the flag bearers at the opening of the Alaska Highway at Soldier's Summit. He was a veteran of the 18th Army Engineers.1) He served as a sergeant in the United States Army for four years. Carlucci was a professional baseball umpire in the Pacific Coast League for fifteen years. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame Pacific Coast League in 2003, the first umpire inductee. Carlucci was the owner of Mr. Ump Custom Made Baseball Empire Equipment and retired from the Armoured Transport.2)

Carlucci's walking stick, in the Yukon Transportation Museum, has a carved number for each mile of Alaska Highway he and his company completed.3)
