Carroll Cawley, nee Couch (1938 – 2006)

Carroll Cawley was born in Timmons, Ontario to Helen and Orval Couch. The family moved to Whitehorse in 1945. Carroll was a homemaker, bookkeeper, and owned Willow Printers with her husband Sam for thirty-two years. She was involved in many organizations.1) Carroll was first elected to the board of the Yukon Church Heritage Society in 1987. She served as treasurer until 2003 and kept the society in excellent financial shape before a staff position was established. She volunteered at numerous fundraising events for the Yukon Church Heritage Society (Old Log Church Museum) and the Yukon Historical and Museums Association (YHMA). Carroll was generous with her time, knowledge and skills and was awarded the YHMA Helen Couch Volunteer of the Year Award in 2004. Both Carroll and her mother before her were recognized for their volunteer efforts in the preservation of Yukon’s heritage.2) Carroll's sister, Marjorie Copp, was also awarded for her long-time support of heritage organizations in Whitehorse.
