Daniel Callahan (1865 – 1935)

Dan Callahan was born in Fort Dodge, Indiana. He was a logger in Michigan from 1878-82, a miner and freighter in Colorado from 1882-92, and.a hod carrier in Portland, Oregon and Revelstoke, British Columbia from 1892 to 1895. He was a miner and freighter at Sitka, Dawson City, Circle, Nome, Fairbanks, Innoko, Ruby, Valdez, and Cordova from 1896 to the 1930s. Callahan married Erina Ellen Pavloff in Circle City in 1904, and they had children Richard and Helen. He was city councilman in Fairbanks for nine terms from 1906 to 1915 and became associate editor of the Fairbanks Times in 1907. Callahan died in the Pioneers' Home in Sitka.1)
