Frank Corwin

Frank Corwin, Thoman Kiorman (aka Kirkman, aka Rickman), Christ[ian?] Heineche, and August Germerslomer staked ground in the Wheaton River mining district in July 1893. Old prospectors’ cuts have been found on the slopes of Mr. Folle, Schnabel Creek, and Carbon Hill.¹⁾ Corwin boasted that he and his partners extracted ore assaying at $1,200 to the ton from their claim. Corwin died in Juneau and willed his interest in the property to Catholic nuns who told W. F. Schnabel the location. When Schnabel located the camp, he found ore assaying at $20 a ton.²⁾
