Jim Chronister

Jim Chronister was a bartender at Circle, Alaska. He shot and killed Jim Washburn in 1896. A miners’ meeting was called, and they came to a verdict of self-defence. Jack Devine was not in town for the meeting, but he understood that old man McGinnis, a one-time lawyer, sent the minutes of the meeting to Washington, DC where the court having jurisdiction approved the verdict. 1)

In the Klondike goldfields, Chronister staked Discovery Last Chance on Feb 4. The claim had been abandoned by William Redford. He also staked a fraction on Bonanza Creek, 2 March 1907.
