Kelly Collins
Kelly Collins came to the Yukon in 1986. He was working at a flying school in Abbotsford, British Columbia that wasn't doing too well and he came up on a six-month trial to work for a new company Aerokon Aviation. Aerokon folded when a Whitehorse hanger burned in 1993. He moved to Manitoba and then New Brunswick but soon returned to the territory. Kelly's gift to navigation was the safety record of the many pilots who trained with him. Kelly Collins received the Order of Polaris Award in 2013 for his significant contribution to navigation in the territory. He retired as Yukon’s Transport Canada's pilot examiner in 2013.1)
