Leslie George Chappell (1901 - 1988)

Leslie Chappell was born in London, Middlesex England.1) Reverend Chappell was an Anglican minister in Moosehide in 1934 and left there in 1935. He returned to Moosehide in 1938 and was replaced by Reverend William Valentine in 1939.2) He was stationed at Fort Selkirk in 1939.3)

Reverend Canon Chappell was the fourteenth rector of Christ Church Parish in Whitehorse from September 1940 to August 1950. He had the third longest term of rector in the parish’s history.4) Chappell’s collection of photographs at the Yukon Archives show his activities and the Whitehorse church.5) Canon Chappell and his family left the diocese after the 35th annual meeting of the Women’s Auxiliary. Mrs. Chappell had been the president for two years and was presented with a mastodon pin as a farewell from the Little Helpers.6) Reverend Chappell died in White Rock, British Columbia.7)
