Mary Caesar

Mary Caesar is Kaska Dene of the Wolf Clan and the daughter of Alfred and Minnie Caesar. She received a diploma in Fine Art at Malspina University in Nanaimo and combines traditional skills with academics. She is a published writer and poet. Her acrylic and oil painting often portray traditional and contemporary Kaska Dene and their lifestyles. She uses images from her days in the Lower Post Residential School and her experiences as a First Nation woman, and her art is part of her healing. Mary portrays a part of Canadian history that should never be forgotten. Her book, My Healing Journey, was published in Germany in 2014.1)
