Mike and Tim Cole
The Cole brothers stripped their placer claim on Gold Run Creek in 1948 and did some bulldozer work on Paradise Hill. They also recovered 347.54 fine ounces of gold from Hunker Creek. In 1949, the Cole brothers abandoned their workings on Hunker Creek and moved their main operation to Homestake Gulch. In 1950, M.D. and L.D. Cole operated two bulldozers and a hydraulic system on Homestake Gulch, Bonanza, Dominion and All Gold creeks; some claims they mined and some they leased. They experienced water shortages throughout the season. They had four employees and recovered 575 ounces of fine gold.1)
Mike Cole and his wife Rosalie, and Mike and his wife Norma, owned a garage in Keno in the 1950s and they started the Cole Bros. trucking company. The company hauled gravel for the construction of the North Klondike Highway, and hauled ore from Mackeno Mines (Galkeno), Belle Keno, and the Shamrock mines. The Coles later owned a garage in Mayo, and then moved to Dawson where they mined on Eureka Creek and worked in road construction.2)
