Nils Clarke

Nils Clarke was the executive director of the Yukon Legal Services Society before he was elected to represent Riverdale North as a Liberal in 2016.He served as speaker of the legislative assembly in his first term.1) Clarke was re-elected in 2021 and appointed to the cabinet.2)

Acting as the Minister of Environment Clarke is credited with playing a key role in the signing of the Kusawa Park Management Plan and the Aullaviat/Anguniarvik Traditional Conservation Area Agreement and was also key to the designation of Chasàn Chùa as a territorial park. As Minister of Highways and Publick Works Clarke was involved with the rebuilding of the Whitehorse Airport runways and the completion of the Dempster Fibre Project and helped the establishment of a new Traffic Safety Act with higher fines for unsafe driving. Clarke was seriously injured in a traffic accident in August 2024 that killed deputy minister of Environment Michael Prochazka. He announced in August 2025 his decision not to seek re-election in the upcoming territorial election.3)
