Andrew Dickson (d. 1902)
Andrew Dickson and his three brothers, all ex-members of the North-West Mounted Police (NWMP), started fishing in the Caribou Crossing area [Carcross] in 1899 or 1900. In November 1902, Andrew and Daniel Holland, also ex-NWMP, left Ten Mile about 10 am and were halfway across Tagish Lake when they encountered a gale. Dickson's canoe was swamped eleven miles above Tagish. Holland was leading by about forty yards. He heard a shout, but Dickson and his canoe disappeared before he could get his canoe turned. Officers from the Caribou Crossing [Carcross] detachment were unable to find Andrew Dickson’s body.1)
