Gordon Dickson (d. 1993)
Gordon Dickson and his wife Janet came to the Yukon in 1967. In 1975 they staked quartz mining claims on Dublin Gulch.1) They were looking for cassiterite (tin) at the time. The Dicksons, like most hard rock prospectors, would locate good deposits and then find exploration companies to test the ground for mining potential. Canada Tungsten, the first company to option the ground, found a large tungsten deposit at the headwaters of Dublin Gulch in 1979. CanTung abandoned Dublin Gulch in 1986 and the Dicksons then optioned the ground to Queenstake Resources. The rich Eagle Gold Mine was developed on ground held by the Dicksons.2)
