John Phipps Delavan (1871 - 1935)

John Delavan was born in Indiana, United States.¹⁾ He was a single lodger living on Bonanza Creek in 1911.²⁾ He staked claims in the Dawson area between 1907 and 1916.³⁾ In September 1916, he was mining near Dawson when he enlisted to serve in the First World War.⁴⁾ He was recruited by Captain George Black and was in England by August 1917.⁵⁾ After he returned from the war, Delavan continued to stake mining claims between 1922 and 1935. He died at St. Mary’s Hospital in Dawson.⁶⁾
