John Phipps Delavan (1871 - 1935)

John Delavan was born in Indiana, United States.1) He was a single lodger living on Bonanza Creek in 1911.2) He staked claims in the Dawson area between 1907 and 1916.3) In September 1916, he was mining near Dawson when he enlisted to serve in the First World War.4) He was recruited by Captain George Black and was in England by August 1917.5) After he returned from the war, Delavan continued to stake mining claims between 1922 and 1935. He died at St. Mary’s Hospital in Dawson.6)
