Margaret Mary Demientieff
Margaret Demientieff was born in Holy Cross, Alaska to Ivan and Elizabeth Newman Demientieff. She was the first professed sister to enter the Sisters of St. Ann from the Holy Cross Mission. She was delighted to be back in the north, after years in Victoria, when she arrived in Dawson in 1929. An outstanding memory for her was the climb up the Dome to share with Dawsonites the annual spectacle of the Midnight Sun. Events like this were rare for the sisters as some superiors did not favour outings. The ones who did, said that the sisters should share in civic community events.1)
