Glenys Elek, nee Roberts (1943 - 2016)
Glenys Roberts was born in Liverpool, England. She met her future husband, Sandor Elek, in Montreal when she was in Canada on a visit.1) She moved to Canada in 1966, and married Sandor.2) They moved west and Sandor Jr. was born in 1970 in Vancouver before they moved north to Cassiar, British Columbia.3) After a winter in Cassiar, they moved to Whitehorse. Glenys and Sandor owned and operated six different businesses in Whitehorse in the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s.4) She did all the sewing for Sandor’s Clothing and was vital in running Qwanlin Shoes, Workwear North, and Kelly’s Electronic World. She began and ran Chelsea Girl, Busy Bee Drycleaners, and the Main Man.5)
