Marj Eschak
Marj Eschak grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan. She worked in Yellowknife as a legal secretary and then went to Cambridge Bay where she worked at the Co-op, then as an airport clerk, and organized all the social events. Her future husband was in aviation and based in Whitehorse when Marj first visited Whitehorse in 1977 during a Sourdough Rendezvous. She was married with two kids when she moved to Whitehorse in 1983. She started with Coldwell Banker and became a successful real estate icon.1)
Marj took the Sourdough Rendezvous to heart, started the Sourdough Sams variety show, founded the Snowshoe Shufflers Cancan group, and became the president of the Rendezvous committee for over thirty years. She has travelled across Canada and into Alaska promoting the Yukon with her comedic Snowshoe Shufflers dance routine. She believes in laughing ‘often and much’, in the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson.2)
