William M. Emery
Bill Emery was hired as a pilot by White Pass & Yukon Route in April 1941 after pilot Lionel Vines and passenger Chappie Chapman were killed in a plane crash in January. Emery left the Yukon to serve in the Second World War and enlisted in the RCAF. At the end of the war, he was a Wing Commander serving in the anti-submarine and convoying branch of the Costal Command. Emery and his wife arrived back in Whitehorse in January 1946 where Bill assumed his new duties as the recorder for mines and Crown timber and lands.1)
