Glenna Frost, nee Njootli

Glenna Frost was born in Old Crow to parent Alice and Donald Frost.1) She left home in 1971 to attend high school in Whitehorse and then became a dental therapist outside of her community. In 1991, Glenna was asked to be a lobbyist by Doug Urquhart, secretary to the Porcupine Caribou Management Board. She spent fifty days touring in the United States lobbying to prevent oil development in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. She and American photojournalist Lenny Kohm started in Washington, D.C. in August and travelled to West Virginia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and back to Washington. Glenna gave at least one 90-minute presentation a day plus TV and radio interviews. Glenna noted specific cultural differences in that the people she met did not know what it was like to be connected to the land, they are so used to concrete.2)
