Harry “Wigwam” Fleck
Wigwam Harry was made famous by artist Jim Rob, who painted and sketched him, and by a story about his habit of wanting to be paid right after he finished a job. In 1954, Harry was given a job by Red and Phyllis Rogers to dig a septic tank hole at their home in Whitehorse. Harry worked fast and had the hole dug an hour before Red was due home from work. Phyllis did not have the money ready to pay him and had to get back to work. She returned home at 5 pm to find no hole and no pile of dirt. Harry was gone, and he had filled in the hole he had just dug.1)
