Peter Fisher (b. 1877)

Peter Fisher was a Dawson labourer in July 1916 when he enlisted to serve in the First World War.1) He was recruited by Captain George Black and was in England by August 1917.2) Fisher was the owner of a creek claim, the lower half of Discovery, on Scroggie Creek. It was held free from cancellation for the duration of the war.3)

Peter Fisher arrived back in the Yukon as a disabled returned soldier. When his condition worsened, Dr. Culbertson recommended that he return to the hospital in New Westminster, British Columbia. Peter was without funds and Commissioner Mackenzie asked the military commander to arrange transport from Dawson for him. On 5 July 1918, Fisher was in a nervous, depressed state with headaches and a nervous twitch in his left side.4)
