Rita Fincham

Rita Fincham grew up in a German city near the Baltic Sea. It was invaded by the Russians during the Second World War when Rita was six. The family moved to Bavaria after the war, and at age sixteen she and her mother moved to Thunder Bay, Ontario. She worked at a restaurant and a year later moved to Kitchener and worked in several restaurants and night clubs. She married twice and raised three kids by herself. Fincham moved to the Yukon in 1977 and worked for Tippy Mau at the T&M for almost ten years. Warned to slow down, she took over Qwanlin Shoes in the old mall. In 1990, a location owned by Tippy opened up on Main Street and Fincham started Shoes R Us. Rita prided herself on the quality of her shoes.1)
