Golan

Golan was a coastal Tlingit who travelled north to trade as a young man. He met Madaka at Fort Selkirk and wanted to marry her and take her home with him. The Selkirk people would not let her go and so he returned to Klukwan. The next year, he returned with gifts for her parents but they still would not let her move to the coast. Instead they let her move to Aishihik, where she had relatives and would be closer to Golan. Golan decided to stay at Aishihik with her. They had one surviving child, Isaac Chief, and this son was Chief Isaac of Aishihik. As late as the 1940s and '50s, Aishihik and Klukwan families spent time together.¹⁾
