Phileas Gagne (1871 – 1956)
Father Gagne was born in St. Foyes, Quebec. He was ordained as a Catholic priest in Ottawa in 1896 and served in a number of places in Quebec before coming to the Yukon in 1919. Father Gange served as the chaplain at St. Mary’s Hospital for more than thirty years. St. Mary’s was destroyed by fire in 1950, and Father Gagne retired to Whitehorse.1)
