Sydney Herbert Goodall (1874 – 1916)

Sydney Goodall was born in Welshpool, Montgomeryshire, Wales. He joined the North-West Mounted Police in 1896 and was posted to Dawson. He took his release in 1906. He was commissioned as a lieutenant in the 16th Battalion during the First World War. He was appointed a temporary captain in 1915 and, on appointment as officer in charge, he was promoted to temporary major in July 1916. Major Goodall was killed during the Battle of the Somme at Courcelette, France. He is buried in the Adanac Military Cemetery in Somme, France.1)
