Bruce Harvey (d. 1982)

Bruce Harvey was the first Parks Canada superintendent of Yukon Historic Sites. He was a founder of the Yukon Historical and Museums Association (YHMA) and supported the preservation of Yukon heritage. He was instrumental in establishing the Chilkoot Trail Historic Site, involved in the designation of the Yukon Hotel as a National Historic Site of Canada, and contributed to the 1982 Federal Heritage Building Policy. Mt. Harvey, south of Carcross and twenty km north of the Yukon/Alaska border, is named for Bruce Harvey. He was among the first to receive a YHMA Heritage Award in 1982.1)
