Charles L. Hall

Charles Hall was the manager of the Alaska Commercial Co. (A.C. Co.) store at Forty Mile during the 1901 flood. He took in many homeless and housed them on the second floor of the A.C. Co. mess house until the flood subsided. The store’s valuables had been placed above high-water mark but the water that year reached seven feet above that. The loss was in the thousands of dollars’ worth of goods.¹⁾
