Howard H. Hamilton

Howard Hamilton came into the Yukon in 1886.1) H. H. Hamilton took out a lot of gold from French Joe's Bar on the Fortymile River in 1888. French Joe took it over after that and mined it out.2) In the spring of 1894, Howard Hamilton was running a tunnel on Canyon Creek, a tributary of the Fortymile, to tap the bedrock at a considerable depth.3) Hamilton was at the founding meeting of the Yukon Order of Pioneers, held on 1 December 1894. He seconded a motion from C. Levante that 1888 be the last date at which a man should be entitled to be called a Pioneer.4)
