Howard H. Hamilton

Howard Hamilton came into the Yukon in 1886.¹⁾ H. H. Hamilton took out a lot of gold from French Joe's Bar on the Fortymile River in 1888. French Joe took it over after that and mined it out.²⁾ In the spring of 1894, Howard Hamilton was running a tunnel on Canyon Creek, a tributary of the Fortymile, to tap the bedrock at a considerable depth.³⁾ Hamilton was at the founding meeting of the Yukon Order of Pioneers, held on 1 December 1894. He seconded a motion from C. Levante that 1888 be the last date at which a man should be entitled to be called a Pioneer.⁴⁾
