Ronald Fred Holway (1929 – 2023)

Ron Holway was of Metis heritage, born on a farm near Fort St. John, British Columbia. He moved to Whitehorse in 1948 and worked at many jobs including horse wrangler and hunting guide, truck driver, and prospector.1) In the fall of 1970, Fred Taylor sold his Dublin Gulch mining property to Ron Holway and his American partner, Darrell Duensing.2) In 1999, Holway moved a dredge from the Sixtymile River to Skagway, Alaska and started a tourism business. Ron was a longtime member of the Yukon Order of Pioneers and the Yukon Transportation Museum.3)
