Ronald Fred Holway (1929 – 2023)

Ron Holway was of Metis heritage, born on a farm near Fort St. John, British Columbia. He moved to Whitehorse in 1948 and worked at many jobs including horse wrangler and hunting guide, truck driver, and prospector.¹⁾ In the fall of 1970, Fred Taylor sold his Dublin Gulch mining property to Ron Holway and his American partner, Darrell Duensing.²⁾ In 1999, Holway moved a dredge from the Sixtymile River to Skagway, Alaska and started a tourism business. Ron was a longtime member of the Yukon Order of Pioneers and the Yukon Transportation Museum.³⁾
