Leta Isreal, nee Van Bibber (1908 - 1999)

Leta Van Bibber was born at Fort Selkirk, the eldest child of Eliza and Ira Van Bibber. She and Afe Brown married and they had two sons, Afe Allen Brown and John Ervin Brown. After Brown disappeared, Leta and Walter Isreal were married in 1944 in Dawson. Walter cut wood for the steamboats at Williams Creek, Carlisle Creek and Minto. They ran a store and café at Minto and later moved to Midway where they set up a store and café. They moved again to Carmacks and built the Carmacks Hotel and café. They sold that business in the early 1980s and bought a home in Sydney, British Columbia where they spent the winters. Summers were spent near Dawson on Hunker Creek. Leta died in Kelowna, British Columbia and her ashes were scattered at Williams Creek.1)
