Bill Ross Johnnie, Dek’án Sóthän (1960 – 2024)

Bill Johnnie was born in Whitehorse to parents Violet and Billy Peter Johnnie. He was Wolf Clan and Northern Tutchone and he grew up at Little Salmon. He attended the Carmacks [now Tantalus} School until he was fifteen and then went to work with his father at Anvil Mine in Carmacks from 1975 to 1978. He was transferred to Cyprus Anvil in Faro and worked there from 1978 to 1982. Bill worked for several years for the Little Salmon Carmacks First Nation as a Game Guardian and was extremely skilled in the bush, water and land. He passed most of his skills in the Northern Tutchone way to his children and grandchildren.¹⁾
