Ruth Jacquot, nee Dickson (1901 – 1982)

Ruth Dickson was born in Tagish, the eldest of fourteen children born to Tom and Louise Dickson. She and Gene Jacquot were married and had five children.1) Ruth Jacquot used to drive a wagon on the Kluane wagon road through Champagne. She came into Whitehorse with her father to get groceries. After she married Gene Jacquot, she used to drive the wagon for him. In the summer they brought out all the food to Silver City on the road in August or September and then took it down Kluane Lake to Burwash Landing by boat. In the winter, Ruth used to come by dog team for the mail. Gene used to go to Whitehorse for the mail and then she would deliver it once a month. Wagon traffic started about June but there would not be much of it.2)
