John August Kinman (1857 - 1937)
John August Kinman was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1857. He stampeded north to the Klondike during the gold rush and prospected all over the Mayo area. He and his partner “Rocky Mountain” Bill Elliot were the original stakers of the Keno townsite. Kinman was among the first to sell property on Keno Hill when Keno Hill Ltd. began operations.1)
