Jan Langford

Jan Langford served for several years on the Board of the Women’s Centre, was active in the Yukon Human Rights debate, and remained committed to her feminist beliefs. She donated her time to organize workshops, seminars, and meetings supporting public education. 1)

Jan Langford, along with Mary Martin, Chris Scherbarth, Alison Reid and Marcelle Dube were key members of a collective publishing the OptiMSt from 1974 to 2002. The OptiMSt was a twenty-page newsletter published by the Yukon Status of Women Council four times a year with costs covered by subscriptions and advertising. It was a forum for women to publish their writing, poetry and art. The Collective records are held at the Yukon Archives.2)
