John B. Lee

John Lee came from Snohomish, Washington to Alaska during the Fortymile River excitement. After he heard of the Klondike strike, he secured a half interest in Claim No. 32 on Eldorado, one of the richest claims on the creek. In 1899, he also owned interests on Sulphur below discovery, a half interest of No. 4 on Gay Gulch, and some involvement in the development of other Eldorado Creek claims. He placed a steam plant on Claim 32 to thaw the ground, hoist the paydirt, and pump water for sluicing.1)
