Nesta Leduc

Nesta Leduc was born in the United Kingdom and attended medical school in Scotland. She travelled to Canada expected to stay for six weeks before moving on to New Zealand. She fell in love with the country and became the first female doctor in the Yukon. In the early days there were two doctors in the territory and they worked every other night so there was always a doctor on call. In retirement, Dr. Leduc has won medals at the World Masters Championships for orienteering. Dr. Leduc was inducted into the Order of the Yukon in January 2025.1) She paved the way for women doctors in the Yukon and welcomed others by mentoring a foreign-trained physician to become licensed. She is a role model for seniors and a supporter of ElderActive.2)
