P. J. Laurentzen

P. J. Laurentzen was born in New York where he became an architect and engineer. He went to the Tanana River country in 1897 and came to the Klondike from there in June 1898. He was joined by his wife and son. Laurentzen staked a 110’ x 130’ [bench] claim on Adams Hill, Bonanza Creek and found it to be very rich. He built a tramway in twelve days and brought his paydirt down the hill to his sluice runs on Bonanza Creek. In 1899, Laurentzen also owned claims on Sulphur and Dominion creeks and a Dawson newspaper considered him a candidate for a leading individual holder in the country.1)
