Marie Claudette Thérèse Lacroix, nee Rhéaume (1950 - 2009)
Thérèse Lacroix was born in Notre-Dame-des-Laurentides, Québec. She married Bertrand Lacroix in 1968 and they moved to Ontario. In 1985, Thérèse received the Ontario Lieutenant Governor Award for leadership with the Girl Guides in northeastern Ontario. The Lecroix family moved to Whitehorse in 1968 and Thérèse started the French Fries program for the City of Whitehorse and also taught children aged 3 to 5 in her house. Thérèse started a francophone Guide movement in Whitehorse and after ten years received a medal from the Girl Guides of Canada for her contribution. In 1990, she received the Yukon Woman of the year Award for the quality of her work with the French Fries program.1)
